Once upon a time, many years ago, a then-renowned art historian and specialist in all things Carl Faberge glumly declared on a Leningrad television program that the jewelry-making art that had once been the pride of Russia had been forever lost to history...

Andrey Ananov was stung by those words. At the time, in those long-past Soviet days, he had already begun to master the finer points and techniques of the jewelry trade, discovering the secrets of the old masters anew. And, as if in an indirect debate with the aforementioned art historian, he resolved then and there to recover what had once been lost.

Thus began the work of the small, 7-person collective, climbing the long ladder of artistic and technical mastery rung-by-rung. It’s been almost thirty years since then.

Andrey Ananov’s apprentices have gone on to become first-class masters in their own right. But throughout all those years of the studio’s operation, the collective’s work was guided by the same overriding principle - the reverse side of a piece is a reflection of the jeweler’s mastery, while the face side must be perfect by definition....

Of course, the most valued asset the Ananov studio has is its people, the masters. The collective is infused with an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, committed to adhering to the precision of precious-metal alloy and order completion deadline.

The studio’s pieces are rendered in the classical St. Petersburg style for which the House of Faberge was renowned.  Beauty that stands the test of time - that’s what makes the works produced by the studio run by Andrey Georgievich Ananov so distinct.
